TOP RESCUE DOG: FENWAY SOX with Hannah

I first saw him about a year and a half ago. I had just recently graduated from the University of Rhode Island and had moved a thousand miles away from home. My roommate wasn’t moving down for a couple of months so I was living in a big empty house all by myself in a new city. It was a little scary and lonely at times so my first thought was to adopt a puppy to keep me company and protect me.
During my final exams week right before graduation my parents had to put our family dog that we had had since I was in the first grade to sleep. He was a dog that the local dog catcher had found wondering down the side of the highway and couldn’t bare to put to sleep, so he brought him to my parents to see if they were interested. He was the best dog so that why I knew that I didn’t want to go out and buy a puppy when there are already so many out there that were looking for a nice homes. So I went online to my local rescue shelter.
After looking through the many adorable puppies looking for a home I finally clicked on ‘Buster Brown.’ (I quickly changed his name when I got him) The second I saw those puppy eyes looking at me on that screen I knew that he was the one for me. I quickly called up the shelter to make sure that he was still there and I went that day to meet him. After going through the whole screening process I was finally allowed to bring him home, but I still wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to name him…that would come in time.
It only took me a couple hours to come up with a name for him. It had to be a name that fit him. Being from Boston I’m a huge sports fan….especially Red Sox!! After a few hours and he was getting comfortable in his new home I finally got to see his personality start shining through. He had that loyalty to me right away…but he also had a little attitude and spunk which I loved. That’s when I decided that he was he deserved the name ‘Fenway Sox.’
We bonded right away. He was just what I wanted. Finally, I was given a peace of mind at night when I was alone in my house. He was there for me until my roommate moved in with me. Today Fenway has not just one roommate to take care of…but TWO!
