Sammy the Fire-cat!

We’ve all heard the stories about the local Fireman who is called to a home to get a pet cat out of a tree. The Fireman saves the cat and the day as well. Well here’s a twist on that story! How about a Cat that acts like a fireman and saves his family from a fire.

Imagine this…it’s the middle of the night and everyone in your family is sound asleep. Sound normal? But here’s the kicker, the house is quickly filling with smoke because of a fire in the furnace room. No one stirs except Sammy the family Siamese cat who quickly senses danger and tries to alert the family. Forget Dad because nothing will wake him up…then it’s on to Mom. Sammy starts licking Mom’s face until she wakes up, smells the smoke and the family is rescued…thanks to “Sammy the Firecat!”

Sammy is not the first pet to save a human life. Over the years there have been a number of pets that have given a new meaning to the saying “mans best friend” by their acts of heroism. Just last year alone pets were honored when one saved its owner after collapsing from a heart attack, subdued an armed robber & rescued their family from an apartment fire. Looks like Sammy runs in a well-celebrated crowd.

Not sure if Sammy learned all of his life-saving talents because he has been rescued too many times from the front yard tree or not... but for the Davies family, it certainly doesn’t matter!
