Diseases you can catch from your Pet?

What is a Zoonotic Disease?
Diseases transmitted from animals to humans are called Zoonotic Diseases.
How Contracted:
Bacteria and Parasites
Direct Skin Contact
Bites or scratches from an animal
Injection of undercooked meats
Pet Prevention:
- Don’t let pet drink from standing water outdoors
- No contact with feces or urine of other animals
- Brush and Inspect your pets coat for ticks or flees
- Make sure pet is up-to-date with vaccinations and Vet visits
Human Prevention:
- Washing Hands
- Avoiding direct contact with animal feces
- If pregnant avoid cleaning out cats litter box
- Wear gloves when in contact with soil
- If you are scratched or bitten by an animal
- Wash the area with soap
- Administer First Aid
